James Atkinson

james atkinsonJames Atkinson was born in the spring of 1982 in Shropshire England.

From an early age, James developed a passion for the game of rugby, he joined his school and local towns’ rugby team but due to his lack of size and strength, he always struggled to make the cut for the team.

After several years of this frustration, James decided that he must develop his size and strength if he was to get a chance to play his favourite team game. It was at this point that he found his first weight lifting gym and his passion for the game of rugby took a back seat while his new found weight lifting and fitness project took hold.

When James reached nineteen years old, he decided to join the British army in search of a life less ordinary. During his time in the army, his fitness levels and character were greatly developed as he served with an elite unit (9 Parachute Squadron Royal Engineers).

Due to the nature of this airborne unit James developed outstanding cardiovascular fitness levels and on leaving the army he re-trained as a fitness instructor and personal trainer.

Having left the army he decided to train himself in bodybuilding and several years later competed in his first bodybuilding competition finishing in the top three and bringing home his first trophy.

During the 20 years that James has been involved in fitness, he has been overweight, skinny, a long distance runner, muscle bound and a competing bodybuilder. He has a passion for helping people reach their fitness goals and truly believes that even the most out of shape can have fitness success.

James is now the author of a growing catalogue of fitness books based on his own fitness experience. These books are written in a positive motivational style with empathy for the reader and he is always willing to help out further should his reader need it.

Hi, I’m James Atkinson (Jim to my friends and readers). I’m a qualified personal trainer and fitness coach, competing bodybuilder and have a burning desire to help others reach their fitness goals.
I have been training for over fifteen years. This training has taken me from long distance running to bodybuilding competition.
It is fair to say that I have learned the secrets of weight loss and fitness from my own personal journey. I have been fat, skinny and muscle bound throughout my fitness career and I really feel fulfilment from helping and advising others when it comes to their goals.
So this book is all about fitness for the beginner. Believe me; I can empathise with the beginner.

It is for this reason that I wrote this book, If I was overweight, had no motivation but knew what I know now, I would start my weight loss / fitness journey with this 6 week home workout.

Good luck and remember that I am always happy to help where I can.

Long distance running is much like any other fitness training. If you want to improve, you need a good plan that has a progressive nature.

If you are new to this game, you need a solid foundation to build on.

Having a running program is not the only thing that you need. Sound advice and running tips should be taken from someone who has “walked the walk” …… Or in this case; “Ran the run”

Hi, my name is James Atkinson from Jimshealthandmuscle.com . I’m a qualified fitness coach / personal trainer and I have a fair bit of running advice that I would like to share with you.

When I was around 18 years old, I was a terrible runner! In fact, I failed the basic fitness test for army entrance on running alone, and I failed big time!

Several years later, I was clearing 1.5 mile running circuits in 8 minutes and 22 seconds and could easily run a marathon any day of the week!

I would like to share my knowledge and training experiences with you. If you are a beginner when it comes to running, this information will no doubt give you advice that will probably not have even crossed your mind before.

If you are already a runner and are looking to make more progression, you are also in the right place.

I know that it is easy to get stuck on a training plateau, so I have also added some information and training methods to this book that will help you leave the plateau behind.

Some of the chapters include:

Why should you take my advice? My story…
Accountability, Commit To Your Goal!
Where to start
Running style
Breathing
When to eat, what to eat
Your bread and butter training “Steady state”
Training on a track
Running for time
Running for distance
Running with weight
Dealing with blisters and chaffing
Staying injury free
Putting it all together and your training plan

All of the information that I provide is written from my own experience as a long distance runner.
I believe that by learning from my mistakes and my advice, you will hit your goals a lot quicker than making these mistakes yourself. Believe me; some of these mistakes can be very painful! As you will soon find out from some of the anecdotes that I am about to share with you.

So grab your running shoes and let’s get started!

JIM’S WEIGHT TRAINING & BODYBUILDING WORKOUT PLAN: Build muscle and strength, burn fat & tone up with a full year of progressive weight training workouts (Self-Help/Health and Wellness)

jims weight training“If I were to go back and start my weight lifting journey from the beginning, this is the plan that I would follow”

Hi, my name is James Atkinson (“Jim” to my friends and readers). I am a qualified fitness coach, ex- airborne forces (British army) and I have a very diverse past in health and fitness. From personal training, long distance running to competition bodybuilding, it is fair to say that I have changed the shape and condition of my body more than most.

Since my early teens I have been involved in weight lifting and resistance training of some description. I am now into my thirties.
Starting off in a powerlifting environment, the doors to a new world of resistance training were thrown wide open in front of me. The possibilities of what could be achieved with the correct weight training and diet inspired me to start work on building my own body into something that I could be proud of.

However, it would take me around eight to ten years before I found the correct path and begin to actually get some results. I will admit that I am not the quickest of learners, but if I was given the correct advice from the start, today, I would no doubt be leaps and bounds ahead of the physical development that currently hold.

This book has a full year of progressive weight training laid out in the form of four “sub routines”.
Each one of the workouts is a progression from the previous one. This means continued muscular development. And the great thing about this kind of training is that you can repeat it year after year if you wish.

Some of the information included in this book:
• Vital fundamental material on training mentality, planning, diet and motivation.
• 4 X 12 week progressive exercise plans
• Explanation of the training year. Why you are training in this way
• Illustrated descriptions of all exercises included
• Accountability charts to keep you on track
• Optional healthy cooking recipes reader bonus
• And more

This book is written for anyone who is interested in developing their body with the use of resistance training. This type of training can be used not only for building muscle mass but for fat loss and toning alike.

If you are new to the weight lifting and bodybuilding world, you will benefit a lot more from this book, but on the flip side; if you have been in the game for a while and would like a few ideas to develop your knowledge further, you will also find this book useful.

I wish you the very best with your training and I look forward to hearing of your success!
Keep on lifting!

HOME WORKOUT CIRCUIT TRAINING: 6 week exercise band workout & bodyweight training for fat loss, strength and muscle tone (Self-Help/Health and Wellness)

home workoutThe most successful fitness and weight loss stories are from those who can self-motivate and are willing to learn. These qualities are more valuable than having the worlds most qualified and expensive personal trainer at your disposal

If you are looking for a home workout fitness routine that:
• Can be done from your own home
• Uses minimal fitness equipment and utilises bodyweight training
• Is progressive for at least 6 weeks
• Is designed to effectively burn fat, tone muscle and develop cardiovascular fitness
• Won’t take you more than 30 minutes four times a week
Then this is the one for you!
Hi, I’m James Atkinson (Jim to my friends and readers). I’m a qualified personal trainer/ fitness coach, competing bodybuilder and have a burning desire to help others reach their fitness goals.

So I have designed this home workout training routine to effectively burn fat, tone muscle and develop cardiovascular fitness.
In this day and age, the pace of life is fast for many, and there are probably millions of people that would say that they haven’t got enough time to lose fat, tone up or work on developing their fitness.

But my home workout routine is not something that will take up hours of your day, I can tell you that you won’t even need to train every day, you just have to follow the routine that will last less than 30 minutes for a maximum of four days per week and each week, you will have a slight upgrade to the previous week.

This type of consistent progressive training is a sure fire way to get your fitness results! If I were looking for fat loss, muscle tone and total body fitness and I did not have access to a gym, this is what I would do.

Be warned! Although this is a “stand alone” fitness routine, I would NOT recommend this to the beginner to fitness, some of the exercises may be too advanced for someone just starting out.

If you do happen to be a beginner, I would recommend my “Home workout for beginners” fitness routine.
The home workout for beginners routine was designed as a “prequel” to this and if you were to start with it, and then decide to try this, you will find that it follows on very nicely.

Good luck! I’ll see you on the inside!
Please remember that I am always happy to help where I can, so give me a shout if you get stuck or have any questions.

All the best
Jim

Jim’s Weight Training Guide, Superset Style!: A Resistance Training Method For Weight loss, Muscle Growth, Endurance and Strength Training (Self-Help/Health and Wellness)

supersetHi, I’m James Atkinson (Jim to my friends and readers). I’m a qualified fitness coach, competing bodybuilder and have a burning desire to help others reach their fitness goals.

I have been training for nearly 20 years and this training has taken me from long distance running to bodybuilding competition.

It is fair to say that I have learned the secrets of weight loss and fitness from my own personal journey. I have been fat, skinny and muscle bound throughout my fitness career and I really feel fulfillment from helping and advising others when it comes to their goals.
This book is all about the very well-known but little practiced (correctly) method of training known as “Supersets”.
My aim with this book is to give you the knowledge so you will:

• Be able to identify the workload that best suits your training goal
• Effectively add supersets to your existing workouts
• Use the method “full time”
• Plan to use supersets to target your weaknesses
• Be in a position to devise your own workout routine using this method

From my first year of resistance training I knew of the superset concept but it was many years later that I started to use it to good effect in my training and later, my clients training too.

It was through my own exercise and learning that I was able to fashion this method into something that could be used in all types of workout.
Whether you are looking to build muscle, burn fat or even train for endurance, you can:

• Use supersets to shorten your workouts
• Increase intensity
• Add volume to your training
• Add variety to your average training session

This book includes examples of full workout routines for different levels of fitness and different fitness goals. These can be followed directly from the book, but my main focus is to pass on my knowledge so you can adapt your training or tweak the featured routines to great effect.
I will wish you good look and IL see you on the inside. Let’s get started!……
