From a young age Josie, former Head of PR at Graff Diamonds in London, has been fascinated by diamonds and gemstones and by stories of famous pieces that have occurred throughout history. “Through my jobs and my research, I have learnt so much about the facts and mysteries of these intrinsically raw elements that come from the ground. The multitude of feelings that they conjure up in people when they have metamorphosed into something priceless and wonderful. What people would do to have a diamond in their hand, rough or polished. They are so much more than just an incredible piece of jewellery, they have their own past and future. Over the centuries there have been stories of famous stones and pieces of jewellery that have either been stolen and never recovered or, simply disappeared throughout the course of history. I wanted to create a female character with the same love for them as I have, who gets involved in tracking down these missing and stolen real and fictional pieces. During the course of each mystery Jemima also faces and overcomes personal problems – the same ups and downs of daily life as I and many of my friends have had – all the while growing into an empowered woman in the 21st Century.”
Josie Goodbody studied French at the University of Exeter and having spent a year working in Paris in the press offices of both Chanel and Christian Dior, moved to London where she worked on PR accounts for Bvlgari and Australian pink diamond specialist jeweller Calleija, before working in house for Graff Diamonds as Head of Press. A stint as a Financial PR/ PA in a gold mining company while based in Monaco gave her more experience of the mining world. Josie has already started on her next Jemima Fox novel which begins on the Côte d’Azur and that she is writing on a farm in Uruguay. She got her love of reading and writing from her mother who died of a brain tumour in 2011 and to whom The Diamond Connection is dedicated. Josie is supporting the Brain Tumour Research Campaign.
