Olivia Brooks-Scrivanich, the second of six children, was born on January 19, 1957 in Lorain Ohio to Wayne and Lois Brooks.
At a very young age, Olivia showed a great love for music and the outdoors which fueled her already active imagination. “Stories” she never heard of before played like a movie in her mind.
Unexpectedly the doctor said he didn’t know what hit him. He died immediately, to think Olivia had just spoken to her father that morning and was planning to visit them.
It made Olivia think about her true purpose here on this earth. To help older children and adults who may be going through difficult times and to be able to whisk them away, if only for a moment, to escape their pain into the whimsical worlds she creates in her books.
Olivia was inspired to write Fiscal Pear and Shimmer in the Call of River Whale after a visit to her aunt, a Pulitzer Prize winner and Nobel Laureate, Toni Morrison. Taking advice from her aunt and what she heard from an interview of renowned playwright Tyler Perry, Brooks-Scrivanich began to let her imagination take hold on a camping trip on the Oregon Coast, jotting down the characters and scenes in her mind from her tent in the wee hours of the morning. The intended short book grew to be a series of four with this book being the first.
Olivia lives in the western part of the United States with her husband Paul and their two beloved Rottweilers, Kayden & Jade.
