Garden Studio

Garden StudioLynette Yencho originally started her career at Josten’s in her home town of Owatonna MN. There she learned right away she was not the office working, paint on weekends sort. Not a clue how to paint, but how hard can it be? She liked to draw whimsical, absurd stuff, modeling herself after Heinrich Kley http://www.heinrich-kley.com/ . Many thought she was a little off but that only encouraged her. All knew (including her) that she was not going to survive in an office job that required a lot of technical skill.

Minneapolis was just 60 miles away and just out of vocational school, she knew there had to be something better to do in the big city. Right! Landing a job at the Minneapolis Star and Tribune, her calling was truly realized. Working on editorials, and feature stories she learned the value of suggestion and enticing the reader to have a look at the story. She worked with some very talented graphic designers and writers alike.

Since then, Lynette has done a little bit of everything from designing porcelain figurines to painting a logo on a Corvette race car. (don’t ever ask me to do that again!) Now she is back at the home town she once abandoned, Owatonna. Since computers and the internet, she works almost exclusively on the computer and it doesn’t matter if no one in town understands her work. She has a few newspaper routes just to keep some stable income and for exercise. Her favorite projects are to realize someone’s story or ideas with her illustrations.

Testimonials

“I have nothing but praise for her creativity (her color sense, her drafting including a strong sense of anatomy and the modelling of human form, great skill with foreshortening and perspective and a wicked sense of humor), positive attitude, hard work, patience, thoughtfulness, adaptability to different illustration styles and willingness to work in a demanding environment (Adobe Illustrator). As you can probably tell, I love what she has done for me and strongly recommend her work to you.”—Peter Gallagher

“It’s been amazing working with Lynette. She works quickly, endlessly and is a perfectionist in every way. I started off with an idea…to develop 4 original digital murals for a restaurant and I ended up with a four master pieces which more than met my expectation… and complete blew away my client and his customers. I highly recommend her for any job you might consider. I personally look forward to working with her again and again. Thanks a million, Lynette for all your hard work”
