July’s Open Blog Weekend

Open Blog Weekend

It’s now been just under 2 years since we launched. We are still trying our best to keep all rates as low as possible (Authors and Resources!) but, we are aware that we still have a moral obligation to be as helpful as we can to everyone, whether they have chosen to join us thus far, or not.

So, it is time for our second OPEN BLOG WEEKEND. Essentially, if you are an author (or wannabe) or provide a service to authors we’d love to host a blog post of yours. We are not going to over-complicate things, so here are our most basic of outlines:

The weekend in question is Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th of July 2015.

You don’t need to be a member to send us a post.

We have 2 blogs here on the site. You can either write a self-promotional piece telling us about your resource for authors for our Resources Blog (your editing, publishing, cover designing business etc.) or any authors out there can write a blog piece giving either a taste of your experiences (my top ten rules before publishing, five things I know now that I wish I’d known then, etc.) or a short story/poem for our Blog.

Please avoid simple ‘check out my books’ posts – we’re looking for something with a little more substance and of some help whether to reader or writer. We’ll then post as many as we can over the weekend mentioned above.

Word Limit – No more than 4000 words. We’ll be counting!

To avoid paid advertising type posts you are allowed to include one link in your blog entry – This needs to be back to your own website or blog. This avoids us having to turn down numerous posts for spam. Our judgement in this is final. Self promotion as the author of your post is fine. Promoting other companies or individuals in this case is a no.

If you have a topic and are unsure if it fits the bill, email us! We don’t bite and we’ll be as helpful as possible in getting you involved.

If your piece is deemed to promote anything inappropriate we’ll carefully file it away under T for Trash. But, we’re sure none of you would do anything like that, right?

We’re hoping as many of you as possible get involved. It’s free exposure after all.

So… Get scribbling! Get planning! If you have something ready to go email it now.

If you have any questions do just email us. We truly mean it when we say we want as many of you to get involved as possible. So don’t be shy!

The email address for submissions and questions is OpenBlog[at]Selfpublishersshowcase.com. We’ll be waiting!
